And after a clean-water loss, the carpet can often be saved once water extraction before any cleaning and drying the pad and subfloor first are done. Cleaning a wet pad is how you get a sour floor a week later.
We clean with truck-mount or portable extraction depending on access. Edges and traffic lanes get the extra passes. We do not pretreat a Category 3 carpet and call it clean. That carpet comes out.

If the backing is delaminating, more water from a cleaner will finish it. We will tell you that on the test pass rather than washing a carpet that is going to come up in pieces.
